DMK and its allies have won the elections with a good margin of seats when compared to its rival ADMK. But the main focus on this election was on how DMDK performed. I am sure that would be a better force in the next election. As for LokParitran, I think we did a great job and almost 34000 votes were polled in favour of us(6500 in T.Ngr,9500 in Mylapore,12000 in AnnaNgr among other places). This is not a bad number considering that the party was started only 2mnts before the election. Here are some of the articles on the performance of LP in the election.1
2 3. I am confident that LP would perform much better in the coming elections. Having said that i also realize that a lot of ground work has to be done to win seats all over TN!!!!
The appraisal was as per my expectations only. I was rated 'Exceeding Expectation'. The appraisal meeting went on for about 1.5hrs!!! I am satisfied with the appraisal but it is the work with which i am not satisfied ;).Another significant thing happened this week... i have started my preparations for GMAT. I had booked my date (july 25th) for taking GMAT long ago. I am happy that i have finally started preparing...Okie thats it for now cos got lots of work at office.

Elections 2006!!!!!!
I have really been busy for the past 2 weeks. I have been campaining for Lok Paritran party. The experience was amazing to say the least. Before i start all the bla bla bla... here is some info abt the party... the party was started by x-IITans. The party is contesting in 7 constituancies namely Mylapore,T.Ngr,Anna Ngr,Chepauk,1000lights,Villivakam and Mudukalathur. The party symbol chosen for the election was AXE!!!!!
OK now abt my xperiences. Thought i have been a part of the campaign process, it was the last 3days when i dedicated all my time for the campaigning. I did door-to-door campaigning in some parts of T.ngr and West Mambalam supporting the contestant Aravind Seshagiri for T.Ngr. I even stood in front of Tirupathi Devastanam(aka TTD) from 7AM to 11AM distributuing pamphlets to people coming out of the temple. The no of ppl who came to the temple was huge courtesy Akshya Trithi. The response from the ppl was really encouraging and that kept me going. Some of them encouraged us, some sounded concerned and some were indifferent. Apart from door-to-door and distributing pamphlets in prominent places like parks, temples and malls, we also went for a rally that covered a part of West Mambalam. The response has so far been encouraging. My guess is that we shld get atleast 10,000-15000 votes from T.Ngr, which isnt that bad at all for a party that was floated just couple of months back!!! Anyway lets wait and c. I hope my efforts dont go waste.
Now abt wat i feel about the overall TN assembly elections. The pundits predict that this is one of the closely fought elections in the recent times. That explains the reason why the major parties are offering freebies like never before. Can you imagine a major political party promising free TV!!!!!???? Even the rest of the parties are not far behind. The others have promised free 10kg of rice, free 4gms of gold, waiver of all outstanding loans for the farmers 15kg rice + rs.500 and what not. Why is it that no party is ready to concentrate on generating employment of provide good heath care and sanitation and focus on primary education. Anyway until there are ppl who are ready to vote for these freebies, such manifestos will be a part of the election campaign.
One observation that i made while i was campaigning was the tendency of ppl to vote for the party that they think will win the election no matter what the party had done in the earlier regime or would do if it comes to power. People think that if they vote for a party that eventually loses the election, then their vote would be of no use. Shockingly even some of the educated ppl have this thought. Wat a misconception about democracy. Most of them dont realize the power of democracy.
Oops!!!! I am supposed to finish my appraisal form today(the last day.... well obviously ;) ) and i still havent started it. Hope my project manager votes in favour of me during this appraisal ;))))

My passion for movies and gadgets!!!!!!!
I have always loved watching movies. During my childhood days, i used to watch Rajinikanth movies like hell. I love him for the charisma and charm he displays on-screen. Since my father owned a cassette rental shop, i had the opportunity to see a lot of movies. I used to watch some good english movies as well - though i never understood most of the dialogues ;-).
Now coming back(or should i say forward!!!) to present, i have suddenly turned into such a movie freak that i have managed to watch more than a 100 english movies in the past 3 months alone!!!! All this started on Nov 18 '05 - the day when i bought my laptop.(Yes a LAPTOP. A Compaq v4118) . I love gadgets and laptop tops the list. I was so excited on the day when i bought my laptop. It had been my dream for almost 4yrs!!!!! The list of gadgets that i want to own is never ending. To name a few from the list - an Apple Powerbook, an iPod, a sony DVD camcorder, a high-end Nikon SLR camera, a BOSS home theatre, a remotely controllable home security system, a top notch mp3 player cum cellphone, a palmtop etc etc....
Actually my passion for movies increased many a fold after i bought my laptop. The excitement of watching a movie on my laptop is amazing!!!!! Initially, i saw a lot of average hollywood movies. But after i saw some 70 movies, i got fed up of these typical hollywood stuff. It is then that i started renting DVDs. I started seeing other foreign language movies like French, Swedish and Spanish movies among others. I used to browse thro IMDB.com for information on the movies and their cast. Every morning, the first thing that i do when i login into my office PC is to check out the review for some movie or the other on IMDB.
At one point of time, i saw 13 movies over a single weekend(that includes 7 movies on a single day). Some of my friends thought that i was really going insane. But trust me, I know what i was doing. I am not wasting time by watching movies. I am just spending time on my hobby. I am also using this as an opportunity to learn about the world of cinema. Now a days, I see to that i gain some knowledge about the world of cinema from each and every movie i watch. I find it really exciting to watch movies and learn about the history of cinema. I have also loved watching some of these movies. Some of my favourite movies in the current list of 100+ movies are The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redumption, Casablanca, Pulp Fiction, Somethings Gotta Give, The good bad and the ugly and Irreversible. I have developed this habit of maintaining a list of all the movies that i have seen since Nov 18th.
I hope that this new found hobby of mine continues for the rest of my life and i get know a lot more about movies. But at times i do have a feeling that i am getting a little too excited about watching movies and that i am not spending much time for my work or for preparing for GMAT. Maybe this new found passion will die down and i will come back to normal state. Maybe. Lets see.

Post Numero Uno!!!!
I am starting this blog on my b'day(little sentimental!!!!)...
the basic idea abt me starting this blog is to keep track all the happenings in my life...
so let me start with writing on what all happened today(i.e on my b'day).
asusual, i went to the temple in the morning(Vinayaga temple - he is my favourite god)
then i treated some of my colleagues at 'mainland china'. i liked the food and i hope the others did too!!!
two of the most surprising events for today were
1) i got a call from 'Akshaya trust' - the home for the aged that i visited some time back. i was very happy to hear from them.
2) my colleagues gifted me a collection of all the 10 seasons of 'Friends' - this is a serial that i love the most. i mean i really njoy watching Joey,Ross,Chandler,Ratchel,Phoebe and Monica act. they are just awesome.
btw, some of my intimates, frnds and relatives wished me(its nice to know that ppl still remember me ;-))
otherwise, it was just another day.
